We aim to ensure a satisfying and productive working life for highly educated persons and higher education students. This is based on a high level of competence and profitable work, and leads to high employment and responsible and strong economic growth. Our strategy was approved by the union meeting in March 2025.

Our Identity
- We are a trade union confederation of affiliates representing highly educated people and higher education students.
Our working methods
- We serve our member affiliates on the basis of their common will, effective process management, inclusion, timely information flow and communication.
- We act responsibly and transparently, committing ourselves to common goals and co-operating regardless of party politics.
- We advocate proactively and with initiative based on expertise and researched knowledge, and we offer concrete solutions.
- We strengthen co-operation between the pluralistic Akava community through respect for one another, a clear division of work and common principles.
